The ITMC offers a backup-service with the software Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM). The software is availible for the most operating systems for example Linux respectively Unix, Windows, NetWare und MacOS.
- Registration
A registration for participation ensues usually with application for permit at the Service Desk of the ITMC resp. at the
TSM-Team (tsm-team.itmc at tu-dortmund.de?subject=logon%20%20backup-service)

- backup
The backup service is availible for all members of the university for official used computers after registration. the backup-service is accessed with the commandsbackup and restore and conduces exclusively for the renewel of the actual client status. A client is a computer (workstation, pc, macintosh). by configuration the backup-client there can be opt between automatically or manually backup, the frequency of backup, if nessesary the numbers of generations of backup.
- archive
If you need longer term archive, ask the TSM-team for advice. We arrage with you, how and where you can archive your data and communicate with Aachen about the archive-service Landesarchivserver. You get an own account and use the TSM-client to the server Aachen similary to the backup-service to th server at the IITMC of the Technischen Universität Dortmund.
