general overview: 

The ITMC offers a secured access to the intranet of the TU Dortmund by the means of a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

 

The VPN access enables to use the intranet of the TU Dortmund by an external provider.

Manuals
Under the sub-item manuals you will find information about how to install and configurate the VPN Client. You will find illustrated and detailed manuals for the different operating systems. These manuals are not translated yet; they are available in German only!

 

Download
The VPN Client software and connection profiles can be recieved under the download (application necessary) category.

  

Storage of connection data 
The connection data will be saved for a limited range of time. If you have questions about this have a look at the sub-item Speicherung von Verbindungsdaten.

 

Technical overview of the VPN service
The data will be transferred encrypted by a tunneling-protocol (IPSec). In this respect they are also secured from monitoring by a third party. You will find further information under Technischen Überblick des VPN Dienstes .

 

SSL-VPN (Web-VPN) 
There is no free VPN software for PDAs and other mobile devices available. To solve this problem, the ITMC offers the SSL-VPN service. You will find information about this service under the sub-item SSL-VPN (Web-VPN).

 

Access information
The data for log on the VPN server of the TU Dortmund is available under Zugangsdaten. 

 

Access conditions 
If you want to use the VPN you have to register with the VPN  server. For this purpose, you need e.g. your UniMail identification and the VPN Client. You will find further information under access conditions.
